A Foundation Built Through Experience, Hope, and Purpose

Fundamental Foundations was not created from an idea alone—it was born from lived experience, resilience, and a deep belief that every young person deserves someone who believes in them.

As a child, I experienced many of the realities that far too many youth in foster care face today. My journey included relative and non-relative kinship care, traditional foster care, treatment foster care, emergency foster care, family instability, abuse, and uncertainty. Throughout my childhood, I experienced both the challenges of navigating complex systems and the profound difference that caring, supportive adults can make in a young person's life.

Those experiences shaped my perspective, but they did not define my future.

Instead, they gave me a vision.

I came to understand that while many organizations provide important services, too many young people still age out of care without the consistent relationships, guidance, and long-term support they need to successfully transition into adulthood. Many leave the foster care system carrying the weight of trauma while facing barriers to education, employment, housing, financial stability, and healthy relationships.

I often asked myself a simple question:

"What if every young person had someone who never stopped believing in them?"

That question became the foundation for Fundamental Foundations.

This organization was established to ensure that young people experience more than temporary assistance. Our goal is to build lasting relationships that continue long after a program ends. We believe every child deserves consistent encouragement, meaningful mentorship, educational opportunities, life skills, leadership development, and a caring community that remains invested in their success.

Fundamental Foundations was intentionally designed to be more than a mentoring program.

It is a lifelong commitment.

Our vision extends beyond childhood and adolescence. Through our Alumni Network, Success Coaching Program, scholarships, emergency assistance, community partnerships, and ongoing resource navigation, we remain a trusted source of support as young people pursue higher education, careers, independent living, and their personal goals.

The name Fundamental Foundations reflects this purpose.

Just as every strong building depends upon a solid foundation, every young person deserves a foundation built on love, stability, encouragement, opportunity, and hope. When those foundations are strong, young people are empowered to overcome adversity, discover their strengths, pursue their dreams, and positively impact future generations.

While my personal experiences inspired this mission, Fundamental Foundations is not about one individual. It is about building a community of compassionate people who believe that lives are transformed through consistent relationships, shared responsibility, and unwavering support.

Every Board member, employee, mentor, volunteer, donor, and community partner becomes part of that vision. Together, we create opportunities that help young people recognize their worth, develop confidence, build resilience, and realize their full potential.

I believe the greatest measure of our success will never be the number of programs we operate or the number of services we provide. It will be the lives changed, the futures strengthened, the families restored, and the generations impacted because someone chose to care.
